Last week I designed some Media Street cover and profile images for some of the more popular social networking websites and thought I would share the information I gathered to do this.
First of all I had to adhere to the Media Street brand, whilst maintaining an up-market, professional feel to the designs which portrays our full range of design, marketing and hosting services. The designs would have to fit not only the large landscape cover images, but the square profile images as well. And I also had to bear in mind the area for the profile image which encroaches into the cover image.
I have used similar designs for some Media Street remarketing advertisements, so that was my starting point. Creating everything with InDesign, including the vector graphics, I also decided to include a subtle text background which covers all of our services.
My next step was to go online and find all of the relevant sizes:
I supplied the files as 150dpi rgb jpegs to keep the resolution nice and crisp on all monitors.
